Duelling Ants Dan Derks' work in music and programming is probably my biggest source of inspiration at the moment. Lovely listen, full of interesting textures and moments!

//a group [...] related to each other less closely than those forming a family, especially one in which the relationships are disputed or unclear.

parts:
- less concepts: a sequencer which uses elementary cellular automata to create looping chains of notes. as the notes repeat, they take the form of melodies. for this album, I extended its capabilities to pepper chord shapes and harmonies into an otherwise single melody-line approach.
- spitfire audio's soft piano: a free piano vst that never ceases to amaze me.
- cranes: a sampling app made for the norns ecosystem. it's an improvisational tool that was designed to help inject contrapuntal technique into my use of less concepts, by layering the recent past underneath/around/through the continuing present.
- cheat codes: another sampling app for the norns ecosystem, which I made as a shortcut to the things I do most with cranes. basically, 3 asynchronous windows into a rolling 8 second buffer. when it's groovin', it creates a nice structure.
- plumbutter: "a drum and drama machine" from peter blasser. this thing is wild. it breathes, it coughs, it sings with a whiskey-coated throat. I ran the audio from cranes / cheat codes into its filters, which were then modulated by the rest of the machine.

people:
- omar akrouche mastered the hell out of this collection. omar is an engineer that operates through empathy. omar patiently studied the dialect of these pieces and found ways to highlight their nuances while helping them become more approachable. the most recommend, 10/10, would send a jumble of sounds to omar again.
- racquel cable has provided the artwork for every release of mine so far and that is because nothing feels complete without her fingerprints. racquel finds + furthers play with every piece she creates. if it weren't for her influence, for her partnership, everything would be darker. she is a brilliant artist and friend with an incredible nose for bullshit. she makes me more capable every day.
- zander raymond is unreasonably talented + self-disciplined, which combined lay the foundation for a lifetime of interesting, engaging, and timely art. his work is deeply inspiring to me and I am very lucky to be able to count him among my friends.
